Periodontal charting measures the depth of pockets around every tooth to assess gum health.
Following the exam, Dr. Barbu discusses all findings with you clearly and honestly. If you are due for a professional cleaning, it is often performed at the same visit. If treatment is needed, a prioritized plan is presented with your options, estimated costs, and insurance coverage explained before anything begins.
Digital X-rays are an essential part of your new patient exam. Many of the most important dental problems — cavities between teeth, bone loss around roots, impacted teeth, infections, and early cysts — are invisible during a clinical exam alone. Our digital X-ray system emits up to 90% less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and images are available instantly on screen for Dr. Barbu to review with you chairside. We can zoom in, adjust contrast, and annotate the images to help you understand exactly what is happening inside your mouth. For patients who need a broader view of jaw structure, tooth positioning, or airway anatomy, we also offer 3D cone beam imaging at our office.

At future appointments, we compare new X-rays against your initial set to identify even subtle changes over time — giving us an early warning system for any developing issues.
